Anugurwal’s popularity touched new peaks, when his first film Ashiki proved to be a grand success. During a special interview with Pinkvilla recently, the former actress opened about the stardom achieved after the film and how it caused security concerns. Aggarwal shared that the fan was to look at his building to fly from different countries and like a craze, as is now for Shahrukh Khan.
The Aashiqui actress, who was alone in Mumbai at that time, shared that it was scary for her. “I had such fans as you know that you are standing under my building. Fortunately the building I was was the building of an MLA/MP, so we had police protection. We loved the guards coming with guns, standing with guns, eight to ten of them. They would not allow people to enter the gate. But it was madness,” he said.
“People were flying from different countries to come and were just looking at my building, you know how it is with Shahrukh Khan today,” Agarwal who left the industry a few years after his success, sharing that the superstar is his neighbor. “I see how it used to happen and I ran away from it,” he made a laugh.
Anu Aggarwal also revealed that Bollywood was ruled by people like Dawood Ibrahim at that time and there were available deals. “All the money that was coming into the film industry, it came from the underworld,” he said.
At one point in the interview, the actress also opened how she sees the industry today. “I find today’s scene very interesting. I didn’t find it so interesting 5 years or 10 years ago,” he said that the film production has changed globally, and even South films have grown big. He shared his views how the audience has now become more selective and has stopped watching films that only rely on Star Power.
