Based on whatever is official, and everything that is still rumored, what can we really expect from the iPhone 17 Air, and how it stacks – at least on paper – against Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge?

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is finally official. The phone launched a few days ago, which means that now we have the whole picture – at least from Samsung. For months, the Galaxy S25 Edge and Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air is left, right and center rounds, mostly based on leaks and speculation. But now that we have found the edge of S25 in the meat, the conversation changes. We know exactly what Samsung’s offering shows – its design, features, performances and values are all in the open.
However, this cannot be said about the iPhone 17 Air. Of course, Apple is still putting things under wrapping, and while leaks and rumors keep putting rumors, nothing has been confirmed yet. So, comparison between two phones is no longer fair. This is now a case that we know what we think we know. The Samsung Galaxy S25 has gone all-in on thinness with the edge. Only at 5.8 mm, it is the thinnest Galaxy flagship ever, and it does not even cut the corners on the material. There is a titanium frame, gorilla glass on the front is ceramic protection corning, and a flat amold display with superlim bezels – all packed in a phone that weighs only 163 grams.

This would be a welcome change, especially for users who always wanted to give a 120Hz refresh rate option on a standard iPhone model, but were always settled with 60Hz displays instead. But then, these are only leaks, and Apple’s plans can change even before the launch.

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Chip, with 12 GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage. Although it is still early to comment on the actual world performance of the device, the rest should be assured to be assured-a UI 7, courtesy of UI 7, is tightly integrated with Android 15-courtesy to-Galaxy AI features that cover everything from photo editing to live translation.
The air of the iPhone 17 is expected to run on the A19 SoC, which is made on 3Nm architecture. Although no official confirmation has been done yet, Apple chipsets are usually known for their efficient performance, even with low core and low RAM number on paper. As expected, Samsung has deployed it between S25 Plus and S25 Ultra, which offers an alternative option for those who want a big phone with high-end features in a slim and light form factor.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be launched with the rest of the iPhone 17 series in September 2025. This is likely to replace the plus model in line-up. The expected pricing is asked to start from $ 899, which can translate around Rs 89,900 in India if the Apple is affixed to its general pricing strategy.

As it stands today, Samsung may proudly say that with the Galaxy S25 Edge, the company has set a clear benchmark for what the company can look and feel in 2025. It is real, it is smooth, and the initial hands reviews on the Internet are mostly positive. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 has been made a tool of air, speculation – but, if the S25 edge is anything, I am really excited about what Apple is in the store for us.
