Global music superstar Rihanna is returning to stage after a long break with a new song called “Friend of Mine” for release on 16 May.

The track will serve as the official soundtrack for the new animated Smurfs film, in which Rihanna also acts as a voice actor and acts as a producer.

A Star-Staded Smarfs Adventure

Directed by Chris Miller, the film follows the lovely blue characters as they set on a courageous discovery to protect Papa Smarf from a group of clever wizards. The film stars an all-star voice cast including John Goodman, James Cordon, Nick Offerman and Sandra Oh.

As reported by the Hollywood reporter, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 18. The recently released trailer presented a glimpse in the story, as well as previewed Rihanna’s new track.

“My friend” is ready to be Rihanna’s first official single since “Lift Me Up”, a Gathagit that she recorded for Black Panther in 2022: Wakanda Forever.

The song reached number 2 at Bilboard Hot 100 and achieved platinum position within a year of its release. Connecting enthusiasm, Rihanna confirmed in Met Gala last week that she is pregnant with her third child with Wrappers A $ AP Rocky.

Although a new album remains uncertain, fans are eager to listen to fresh music from Rihanna. His dual role as a creative contributor and producer on the Smurfs film outlines his expansion effect beyond music.
