How AI helped Pope Leo XIV choose their name

During his first formal address as Pope Leo XIV, he reported that his Pope’s name is a child of artificial intelligence. In his speech, he revealed his sinner’s plan and said that AI has not only helped shape his thinking, but is also the choice of his name, Pope Leo XIV. However, he also mentioned that while AI is a useful tool, it faces challenges to defend human dignity, justice and labor.

In 2023, he became a goal of AI-powered deception when a fake image of a white designer puffer jacket was widely spread online. A year later, speaking in the Vatican City, he warned against the medical visuals that “looks completely admirable but wrong.”
Later that year, speaking at the G7 Summit, Francis called for the international agreement on “Algor-Athics”-guiding the use of AI technologies.
“This is clearly seen in the example of many of my predecessors, and recently with the example of full dedication to Pope Francis for self -service and simplicity of life, his abandonment to God for God in his ministry and his calm confidence in his return moment to the father’s house,” Pope Leo told the gathering. “Let us raise this precious heritage and continue on the journey, inspired by the same hope that is born of faith.”
