Kannada director K Ramnarayan said on Thursday, 8 May that singer Sonu Nigam’s waiver was not enough and would have to face results for his harsh comments. Ramnarayan also revealed that he has changed two songs sung by Sonu with track versions in his upcoming film ‘Kuldali Kollywood’.

The director told PTI“Just sorry is saying that it will not cut. It is a very serious mistake to connect Kannada pride with the national tragedy in Pahgam. It will have to pay a price for it.”

The director further said that his upcoming film ‘Kuldali Kelivoodo’ was slate for a dramatic release on 23 May. As part of its publicity, three songs have been released so far, two of them originally sung by Sonu Nigam.

“In fact, he sang the title track, possibly a tribute to the most famous Kannada song, shown in the 1965 film of the famous actor Rajkumar, Satya Harishchandra. The original Kuldali is very sacred for the Kildli Kannada film industry – our orchestra, which can record this song. Ramnarayan said.

The director said that both tracks sung by Sonu Nigam, including ‘Mansu incidents’, are being replaced with versions recorded by track singers. In music production, a ‘track singer’ refers to a singer, who initially records a vocal performance for a song, often as a demo.

Although the makers of ‘Kuldali Kollywood’ have taken the song below YouTube, the version of Sonu Nigam’s ‘Mansu incident’ is available on his personal channel.

At the Bengaluru concert, Sonu Nigam repeatedly closed the requests of a student to sing in Kannada and allegedly linked it to the Pahalgam terror attack. He found the person’s voice rude and said, “I started singing Kannada before being born. That is why the Pahgam attack took place … for such an attitude. At least see who is in front of you before making such a demand.”

The singer also released an apology after his Bangalore concert line. He shared a post on his Instagram and said that his love for Karnataka is greater than his ego.
