Kamal Haasan’s thug life to stream on Netflix after dramatic release
Kamal Haasan’s ‘Thug Life’, directed by Mani Ratnam, will be released in theaters on 5 June 2025. This will later stream on Netflix. The film has a star-stad cast and marks the renovation of the pair after ‘Naikan’.

Kamal Haasan’s much awaited Tamil gangster drama ‘Thug Life’, directed by experienced filmmaker Mani Ratnam, is set for a dramatic release on 5 June, 2025. In a major development for streaming the audience, Netflix has officially acquired the film’s digital rights, which will be available on the later platforms of the film.
Although Netflix has not yet announced a specific streaming date, it is expected that the film will reach the stage a few months after its dramatic start. The streaming platform confirmed this through social media posts.

There has been speculation about the scale of the deal, several reports suggest that Netflix has paid an amount of Rs 149.7 crore for rights. However, the production team has not issued any official statement about the financial terms of the agreement.
About four decades after his cooperation on ‘Thug Life’ Nayakan (1987), Kamal re -connects Mani Ratnam. The upcoming film features a star-stade including Silambanson TR, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lakesmi, Sanya Malhotra, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Jujo George, Nasar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, and Vaiyapuri.
Jointly produced by Raj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant films, ‘Thug Life’ is also Kamal Haasan’s 234th film as a prominent actor. The project was first announced in November 2022 under ‘Kamal Haasan 234’, with an official title in November 2023. Filming was done in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Pondicherry, New Delhi and various parts of North India. It started in January 2024 and was wrapped later that year.
