After its release last month, adolescent became a stunning hit for Netflix. The Limited Series created a global discussion for its entertaining storylines, unique one-shot filming style and debut Owen Cooper’s mind-making skills.
The show joined Baby Rendier as one of the largest UK-based limited series on Netflix, earning incredible ratings despite having no major marketing campaign. In addition, adolescence entered the list of streamers of the most popular English-language chain of all times.
It secured the 9th place, with the Strenger Things Season 3 (94.8 million views) at 10th place and the Briistarton Season 2 (93.8 million winners) list. Adolescents have seen 96.7 million times worldwide so far. Given the propaganda around the show, the number is expected to increase.
This achievement is notable, given that it was achieved within just 17 days of the release of the show. The Netflix list is based on the 91-day viewership window, which means that the series still has two more months to climb more.
Adolescents are a drama minisaries inspired by real events. According to the official synopsis, it follows a series of incidents, “a 13 -year -old man is accused of killing a classmate. His family, doctor, and in charge of detectives are all left to leave what has really happened.”
Cooper received widespread praise for his depiction of Jaime in the series. The episode three marked their first acting role and his debut on a television set. He performed an impeccable performance, despite this episode filmed in a single continuous shot.
The series also includes Stephen Graham, Erin Doharry, Ashley Wallers, Fay Mars and many others. Talking to Tudam, Graham shared the team’s vision for a limited series:
“We had a purpose to ask, ‘What is happening to our youth these days, and what pressure do they pressurize their colleagues, internet and social media?” He said at that time.
