Val Kilmer was known for his prestigious Hollywood roles, including Iceman in the top gun and Bruce Wayne in Batman. But beyond his acting career, he was also a poet.
He wrote poetry for most of his life, which began in his twenty -nine condition while studying at Juiliard School. According to the Hollywood reporter, his passion for writing continued for decades, with some of his works published in 2021.
Val Kilmer, who died of pneumonia at 65 am this week, said, “Poetry is a very subjective and intimate expression. It is really your heartbeat. Your rhythm. Your soul song.”
In 1987, Kilmer self-published Mai Adenses after Burns, a collection of poems he wrote during his early Hollywood years. The book was printed in a limited number of copies, which he initially gave to friends and family as a Christmas gift.
A few copies were also sold, but Kilmar later bought most of the unusual versions and placed them in his garage. Over time, he handed him over to events including Colorado Shakespeare Festival.
Kilmar’s poem was deeply individual, focusing on love, mortality, spirituality and his experiences in Hollywood. A poem in the collection was dedicated to the Moon on the moon, his ex -girlfriend, Michel Fifter. Given the small number of available copies, my adens to Burns is now a rare collectible. A first version is listed for USD 3,500 on Amazon.
Kilmer’s writing was influenced by their relationships and life experiences. He had high-profile romance with Mitchell Fifer, Cindy Croford, Angelina Jolie and Cher. She also married actress Joan Whali for eight years, and her two children were together. Many of these relationships inspired his poetry.
His life was full of both artistic success and personal struggle. 2021 documentary Val revealed the details about his fight with throat cancer and the effect of his childhood death of his brother Vesley.
