A powerful earthquake has killed over 1,000 people in war -torn Myanmar and neighboring Thailand and suffered extensive damage.

Here we know about relief efforts:

China

The Emergency Management Ministry of Beijing said that China on Saturday sent an 82-person team of the rescue team to Myanmar.

CCTV reported that a separate rescue team in Chinese’s Yunnan province reached Myanmar’s commercial hub Yangon on Saturday.

The Chinese government will also provide Myanmar with 100 million yuan ($ 13.8 million) in emergency humanitarian aid with shipments starting on Monday.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong on Saturday sent a 51-individual team to Myanmar, along with two search and rescue dogs and nine tons of equipment, including the government, the government said.

India

An Indian aid flight landed in Myanmar on Saturday.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that a C -130 military transport aircraft was sent to carry hygiene kits, blankets, food parcels and other essential things.

“A search and rescue team and medical team are also with this flight,” he said.

“We will continue to monitor the developments and follow more aid.”

Who

The World Health Organization stated that it was gathering his logistics hub in Dubai to prepare a trauma injury and trigger his emergency management response.

The Global Health Body was coordinating its earthquake response from its Geneva headquarters “because we see it as a big event” clearly a very big threat to life and health “, spokesperson Margaret Harris told a media briefing.

United States

US President Donald Trump vowed Washington on Friday, assisting Myanmar, describing the earthquake as “terrible”.

“This is a real bad, and we will help. We have already spoken with the country,” Trump told reporters at the Oval office.

European Union

The European Union stated that it was providing 2.5 million euros ($ 2.7 million) in early emergency assistance and assessing the needs on the ground to raise further assistance from the block.

The European Union Crisis Management Commissioner Hadaza Lahbib said, “The European Union stands in solidarity with people in Myanmar and is a broader area after this powerful earthquake.

Malaysia

Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry said it would also send a team to Myanmar.

The deployment will include a commander and 49 rescue personnel “to support the ongoing human and disaster relief operation”.

External Affairs Minister Mohammad Hasan said that the regional block ASEAN, of which Myanmar and Thailand are members, “are ready to assist both countries”.

South Korea

South Korea’s Foreign Ministry stated that it would send $ 2 million in human assistance to “support immediate rescue and relief efforts” after the earthquake.

The Ministry said in a statement, “The Korean government hopes that this support will help save life and reduce pain in the affected areas.”

Seoul said that if the situation worsens, it can send additional assistance.
