IT services firm Tech Mahindra said on Sunday that it was in “close contact” with his employee’s family, who was allegedly detained in Qatar in connection with an investigation.
Amit Gupta, a senior employee of the firm, was detained by officials in Doha on 1 January, alleging his family in Vadodara, Gujarat.
“We are in close contact with the family, providing necessary help with NDTV, a spokesperson for Tech Mahindra.
Mr. Gupta has been detained for allegedly stealing data. However, his family said he is innocent and he has falsely accused of data theft.
“Amit Gupta was detained on 1 January and was held for 48 hours without food or water. After that, he was locked in a room, and now it has been three months that he has been held in Doha. The reason for his custody is still unknown,” Mr. Gupta’s mother, Pushpa Gupta told the news agency IANS.
He said, “Someone in the company may have done something wrong and since he is the Country Manager, he is detained,” he said.

Ms. Gupta said that she came to know about her from her friend when she did not pick up her calls for two days.
She also said that she had gone to Doha and met her for half an hour.
She also met Vadodara MP, Hemung Joshi, who assured her that she would take up the matter with the government.
According to sources, the Indian Embassy in Qatar is aware of his detention.
Mr. Gupta, currently heads of the field of Tech Mahindra – Qatar and Kuwait – According to their LinkedIn profiles, are associated with the firm for about 12 hours.
