Stick-on supplements from shark tank India are viral. But do they also work?

Experts suggest that patch may work to some extent for specific nutrients, but research on their credibility is very limited.

In short

  • Stick-on supplements are gaining fame after portraying a brand on the shark tank
  • These patches claim to change regular supplements
  • However, experts doubt due to limited research on its efficacy

The tendency of brands rising to fame or disappear after a convenience on the shark tank is not new. One such brand, which not only raised money from a shark, Anupam Mittal, but also saw its founder, Radhika Rajpal, received high praise from them, because “one of the best founders” was patch up.

His product? Stick-on supplements.

Radhika shared her journey on the shark tank, mentioning that she saw the ability in the market for stick-on supplements or patch, which you call it, as an alternative to oral people. His inspiration was to create a clean complement brand that is free from additives and also helps those who have trouble swallowing bullets.

Radhika’s brand is one of the leading people in India, even though the concept of stick-on supplements is not new. These supplements promise in a nuisance manner to absorb essential nutrients through the skin.

Now, even though a tade is expensive, these patch are producing both online curiosity and skepticism, as various patch promises many things, including vitamin D, replacement for magnesium dosage, and even for weight loss.

So we asked experts, should you switch to these patch instead of supplements? What did we get here?

Patch can help

According to Vriti Srivastava, an overall nutritionist and founder of Sourasi Tea, “Patch can work to some extent for specific nutrients. However, research on their credibility is very limited. ,

She says that nutrients such as vitamin D, which are naturally synthesized in the skin, and magnesium, which are known for its external application in the form of Epsom salts and oils, may be better suited to patch delivery.

Can be helpful in patch:

  • People with intestinal issues or malabsorption
  • People who swallow up difficulties or cognitive losses
  • Children with poor gastrointestinal movement or special requirements

However, Vriti, like other experts, we talked to, warns that most available studies are animals-based. “Very few human studies have been made to study the efficacy of patch,” she says.

But can patch tablets change?

One of the main reasons for helping the patch was that they promise to change the oral supplement, as many of us have problems swallowing bullets, including supplements that help in the matter.

Today, Indian Nutrition Dosage Market is a price of USD 42.97 billion in 2024, it is estimated to reach USD 46.39 billion in 2025. But can it change your traditional supplements?

The consensus among experts is a clear No,

Debjani Gupta, a nutritionist and wellness expert from Mumbai, says, “There is no comprehensive research to support his effectiveness in these patch supplements. They have a very low concentration of nutrients that they claim to provide. ,

Vrita Srivastava agrees.

“Patch cannot meet the needs of all nutrients,” she says.

“Oral supplementation will still be necessary for other nutrients, especially with large molecular structures such as fat -soluble vitamins A, E and A, which may not be effectively absorbed,” she says.

While a medical nutritionist, Shivi Tyagi, agrees that these patch is a “convenient, needle-friendly” option, he agrees that they cannot completely change the bullets.

“Our skin acts as a barrier and does not allow some nutrients to pass. Water-soluble vitamins such as B-complex and C require special yogas, which makes them better for oral consumption, ”says Shivi.

possible side effects

The patch may seem easy to use, but they are not without side effects. According to the three experts, general issues are included:

  • Skin allergy and irritation
  • Redness, swelling or itching at the application site
  • In hot climate, excessive sweating patch can affect adhesion
  • Anamaria
  • Sensitivism

Shivi Tyagi says, “Some patch marketed for energy, sleep or anxiety relief may contain elements that interfere with hormones, which leads to mood change or hormonal imbalance.”

The National Geographic also published a report investigating vitamin patch and found evidence for lack of efficacy, especially compared to traditional oral supplement.

Things are quite patchy

Experts say that these patch may be a accessory complement for oral supplement in specific cases, but they are away from a miracle solution. Their effectiveness varies on this basis:

  • Skin type and thickness
  • Irritation and body temperature
  • Placement and patch construction

In addition, as stated in the shark tank by Namita Thapar in the show, we need more research before promoting it as an alternative to supplement.

As Debajni says, “People who make it difficult to eat three balanced, nutritious food, they are in a hurry to jump on supplementary trends, but it does not work like this.”

For now, these stick-on patch can create an interesting addition to your wellness routine, but not yet dug up your daily vitamins (which you should get from your food, not supplemen) yet. And perhaps, keep looking for more concrete research before allowing stickers to change your supplements.
