A reality checkDonald Trump claims that ‘BRICS is dead’Where things are standing on a bricks+ currency

The BRICS+ nations have chosen to ignore the dangers of Donald Trump and have to move in the same way that it intends to do – finding an option for the US dollar for global trade. On several occasions, President Trump has threatened to impose 100 or even 150 percent tariffs on BRICS+ nations, should he attempt “de-dollarization”.

The BRICS is small for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and the BRICS+ is a 10-member group including Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Indonesia. Saudi Arabia has accepted membership, but has not formally joined yet, saying that the matter is under consideration.

Donald Trump first threatened such tariffs in December and then a few times in January after his inauguration ceremony. Things calmed down for a few weeks, and the way President Trump raised his collar last week, claiming that his threat clearly broke the “BRICS+ Nations” unity, a reality came to him like a bolt.

A reality check

In a direct response to Donald Trump’s repeated threats, Brazilian President Lula Dr. Silva is committed to ending the dominance of the US dollar, no matter what it is “.

The President of Brazil also said that “Donald Trump’s tariff threats will never stop BRICS determination to search for alternative platforms for payment between member countries.”

Brazil, which presides over the powerful group this year, said in a statement that the summit of this year would “strengthen the intention of the group” for a multi-polar world to move forward with its vision.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, after the Brazilian President’s direct-edible direct direct talk, said that “the United States will be backfier in any attempt by the United States to force other countries to use US dollars for trade”.

Donald Trump claims that ‘BRICS is dead’

Last week, Donald Trump indulged a bit in chest-cheating, when he claimed that “BRICS nations are broken”, credited to its tariff threats.

“BRICS states were trying to destroy our dollar. They wanted to create a new currency. So what I came in, the first thing I said was any BRICS state in which even the dollar destruction was mentioned, it would be charged 150% tariff, and we don’t want your goods and BRICS states to be broken only,” said President Trump.

He said that “I don’t know what has happened to him. We have not heard from BRICS states recently.”

Beware of the true ability of an alternative to the US dollar, President Trump said “BRICS was established for a bad purpose,” saying that “they (BRICS nations) are now afraid to talk about it (de-delersion) because I told them if they want to play the game with dollar, then they are going to hit the game with 100 percent tariff.”

“BRICS is now dead,” President Trump commented last week.

Where things are standing on a bricks+ currency

BRICS+ nations have not yet a normal currency, but it is believed that the closed door between some member nations has been discussed on its proposal. In 2023, at the BRICS Summit held in Russia, President Putin announced that de-deletion was important for the multi-polar world.

President Putin said at that time, “BRICS+ nations should expand settlements in national currencies and increase cooperation between banks.” The cooperation between the BRICS+ nations has increased considerably after the United States ban Russia on Russia during the war in Ukraine.

While there is euro in Europe, there is no official term on a general global currency by BRICS+ Nations to rival the US dollar, several member states have already started trade in local currencies to avoid the use of US dollars. For some time, and for the future, the US dollar remains a major global currency for trade and for reserves.
