CBC News reported that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a warning about the possible imposition of tariffs by the United States on Friday, stating that “there would be an immediate and strong response in Canada.”
“We will continue to do that work and do everything necessary to avoid these tariffs, but as I said, if unjust tariffs are brought to Canada on Tuesday, we will have an immediate and strong response, as Canadians hope,” Trudeau said.
This statement has come amid increasing tension on trade between the two countries. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized the flow of illegal drugs in the US, allegedly coming from both Canada and Mexico.
As a result, Trump has decided to move forward with tariffs on both countries, which starts from March 4. In addition, mutual tariffs are scheduled to continue with full force from April 2.
In addition, Trudeau said, “The first thing on Tariff is that our government, and actually teams are focusing on Canada, Premier, Business leaders, all one thing of community leaders, ensuring that on Tuesday and for the weeks that have been put up in Canada,” according to CBC news.
He said, “The tariff that the President has talked about for the next week is focused around the Phantanile crisis that they are facing in the United States, but we are also facing in Canada,” he said.
Addressing concerns about Phantanile smuggling in the United States, he said, “And now for months, I am insisting that less than one percent of the fantanel coming in the United States comes from Canada. But we know that even less than one percent, which is less than one percent, which is less than one percent, which invests with $ 1.3 billion with $ 1.3 billion, our boundaries and kanadai. And keep Americans safe.
“And that Canada is not a source of problems for the United States,” he said.
Meanwhile, on 4 February, the US President stopped tariffs on imports from both countries for 30 days, saying that he had received new commitments from both countries to improve border security. President Trump said that he had spoken to his counterparts from Mexico and Canada.
“Drugs are still putting a large percentage of these drugs in our country than Mexico and Canada. A large percentage of these drugs, most of them as Phantenile, are made by China, and supplied. These dangerous and high addiction distribution led to more than 100,000 people last year due to distribution of these dangerous and high addiction.”
Citing the smuggling of across the border, Trump has vowed to prevent such drugs, especially the fennel or “seriously limited”.
“Millions of people have died in the last two decades. The families of the victims have been destroyed and in many examples, almost destroyed. We cannot allow this crisis to continue to harm the USA, and therefore,, until it stops, or is not limited, the proposed tariffs have been determined to be effective on March 4, in fact, as a schedule, read the post.
Apart from this, China will also be charged an additional 10 percent tariff from March 4.
