Musk suggested more salary to US Congress members to discourage corruption

To reduce the size of the US government, billionaire Elon Musk, appointed by President Donald Trump, on Thursday suggested that members of the US Congress should increase salary as a way to discourage corruption.

Although Tech Billionaire is officially only one advisory, Trump has given him as part of his so -called Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) with heavy power to cut federal expenses and bureaucracy.

Musk posted on his social media platform X, Musk said, “It may be understood to increase compensation for the Congress and senior government employees to reduce the forced work for corruption, as it can be 1000 times more expensive to the public later.”

MPs on both sides are generallyware of optics of large increments, but accept that competitive salary is the best way to ensure that it can work less well.

The first draft of a short-term government funding bill that Musk helped lose in December, would have allowed MPs to re-introduce the automatic cost-living adjustment to a slight increment.

The Congress has been blocking the adjustment every year since 2009.

But Musk argued against the provision, claiming that it would mean an increase of 40 percent, and it was removed from the package.

The actual growth for members of both chambers would be approximately $ 6,600, or 3.8 percent.

Their $ 174,000 annual salary has been frozen for 15 years, but still more than the average domestic income.

Musk, the world’s richest person, spoke about the controversial Dogge program at Trump’s first cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

“If we do not do this, the US will be insolvency,” Tech Tycoon said, saying that he was “taking too much flake, and threatening a lot of death.”

One -third of his Dogi resigned in protest on Tuesday when he emailed two million workers of the federal government, ordered them to justify their work or risk.

According to US media, cabinet members have expressed disappointment over Dogi email, but Trump insisted that his team was “thrilled” with Kasturi
