S Jaishankar discussed Indo-Pacific with Australian, French ministers

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday discussed issues related to the Indo-Pacific sector with his Australian and French counterparts, Penny Wong and Jean-Noel Barrot, during a tripartite meeting held here on the occasion of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting.

Shri Jaishankar G20 is in Johannesburg on a two -day visit to South Africa to attend a meeting of foreign ministers.

Sharing some details of the meeting on X, he said, “Great to meet FMS @Senatorwong and @Jnbarrot at India-Australia-France Tripshal meeting in Johannesburg. In our three countries, Indo-Pacific has shared interests and strong The ability to do is each other’s position.

Shri Jishankar held his first meeting on the occasion of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting with the European Union Vice President and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and the Security Policy Kaja Kalas.

The discussion included the major areas of cooperation of the India-EU, including trade, security and geopolitical development. Ukraine conflict was also a major topic.

He also had a “good conversation” on his Algerian counterpart Ahmed Ataf with bilateral partnership and cooperation in the multilateral field. He also discussed the development of West Asia.

Shri Jaishankar also had a “quick chat” with Foreign Minister and Ireland Deputy Minister Simon Harris on the occasion of G20 FMM.

“Our conversation is ready to continue,” he posted on X.

On Thursday, while addressing the G20 session ‘Discussion on Global Geopitical Status’, Mr. Jaishankar said that G20 is an important expression of the growing multi-polarity of the world.

“The global geo -political situation remains difficult by any definition. Some of these are the accumulated challenges of Kovid epidemic, conflict conditions, financial pressures, food security and climate concerns,” he said.

As the Premier Forum for International Economic Cooperation, the G20 plays an important role in facing important challenges to the global economy.

Members of G20 are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea Republic, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkish, United Kingdom. The United States, the African Union and the European Union.
