“Are fruit juices good for health?” has long been a topic of debate in the food and nutrition world. While many experts acknowledge the health benefits of drinking certain juices, others always recommend eating whole fruits and not drinking their juices. Today, we are not going to delve into this debate. Instead, this article focuses on the health benefits of certain fruit juices, as explained by nutritionist and disease-reversal specialist Neha Ranglani in a recent Instagram video. While agreeing with the popular advice of “don’t drink your fruits, eat them,” the expert said there are three juices she “definitely recommends for certain therapeutic uses.” What are these juices? How can they be beneficial for you? Read on to know in detail.
Here are three powerful fruit juices and their health benefits:
1. Plum juice
Prunes are the dried version of plums. According to the nutritionist, “Prunes contain a compound called sorbitol – a sugar alcohol that has a laxative effect on our body and draws water into our intestine. This helps bulk up the stool and reduces constipation, thereby helping in regular bowel movements.” Prune juice is great for people struggling with constipation and irregular bowel movements.
How to make plum juice: Soak the dried plums in warm water for 30 minutes. Now, grind them in a grinder with more water. Strain the liquid from the pulp, add sugar if needed and your juice is ready!

2. Cranberry juice
Cranberries are small, red fruits known for their sour taste. Much loved as a dessert, they are widely used to make sauces, juices and muffins. Cranberries have many health benefits.
Talking about cranberry juice, the nutritionist explains that it contains “a compound called proanthocyanidin, which helps inhibit the growth of E-coli bacteria in the urinary tract and prevents the bacteria from sticking to the urinary tract, thereby helping to flush it out and get rid of urinary tract infections.” Also, cranberry juice makes our urine acidic, creating an environment that is less conducive to the growth of these unwanted bacteria that cause UTIs.
How to Make Cranberry Juice: Boil the cranberries in water for 20 minutes. Strain the juice through a fine sieve lined with cheesecloth. Heat the juice until it is almost boiling. Let it cool, store it in the fridge and enjoy it once it is chilled.

3. Tart Cherry Juice
Tart cherries are often consumed dried, frozen, or as a juice. Speaking about tart cherry juice, experts say that the juice is “a natural source of the hormone melatonin, a hormone that helps us with our sleep-wake cycle.”
So when you consume tart cherry juice, you increase the levels of melatonin which “helps improve better sleep, sleep quality, and sleep duration.” This juice is beneficial for people suffering from insomnia or any other sleep problems.
How to Make Tart Cherry Juice: Remove the pits from 2 cups of tart cherries. Put the cherries in a blender and add water. Blend the mixture until it becomes smooth. Strain the juice and enjoy it.
