Grammes Snow Zakir Hussain in ‘Memorium’ section, fan expresses disappointment

The organizers of the 67th Grammy Awards left Indian tabla Mestro Zakir Hussain-four-time Grammy winner-Memorium segment to Memorium Segment Grand Award ceremony on Monday. Indian fans expressed their disappointment with the recording academy, which hosts annual awards.
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis died on December 15, 2024 at a hospital in San Francisco, 73 -year -old Hussain won three grams at last year’s awards.
Fans criticized the omission on social media. One user wrote on X, “Four -time winner and several -time candidate Zakir Hussain recently lost the artists in Grammy Tribute. Don’t be ashamed to see the Real Shem (SIC).” Another said, “Thinking that Zakir Hussain was not paid tribute tonight. He himself won four villagers and also had a major impact on Western culture (SIC).”
Expressing disappointment, another user wrote, “There is no mention of Zakir Hussain in Grammy Obituari? #Grammis 2025 He was a winner last year (SIC).”
This year, in the Memorium segment, Gramis honored the musicians who died last year, including Liam Payne of Forest Direction, Dicky Bates of Alman Brothers, Marien Fathful, Garth Hudson, Tobby Keith and Rich Homi Quan.
Chris Martin of Coldplay presented a version of the band’s recent Gathagit, “All My Love” to honor musicians who died in 2024.
The Grammy Awards were held on 3 February (IST) at Los Angeles. Singer Beyonsey made history by winning the album of the year, making her the first black woman to do so. The ceremony was hosted by TV personality and writer Trevor Noah.
