Actress Sonakshi Sinha is all set to marry her boyfriend of seven years, actor Zaheer Iqbal, on June 23. The wedding will take place in a private ceremony, followed by a party for friends and family at a restaurant in Mumbai. There was a time when Sonakshi’s actor father Shatrughan Sinha had said that he would prefer Sonakshi and her husband to live with him rather than sending them to their in-laws’ house.

During an interview with Simi Grewal in 2012, Sonakshi admitted that Shatrughan Sinha is a “conservative” father. She said, “I am the apple of his eye, and he has pampered me a lot. He wants to build a home for me where I can bring my husband. He doesn’t want to let me go to my husband’s house. He wants to bring my husband to our house.”

Sonakshi’s mother Poonam Sinha agreed with Sonakshi on Shatrughan Sinha being a conservative father. She said, “He is as conservative as any father would be, and I would say even more so, because of the background he comes from, he is more conservative towards Sonakshi.”

In the same interview, actor-turned-politician Shatrughan said, “One day she will go to live with her in-laws, but if we get the opportunity and the option, we will not look for a son-in-law. We will find another son for ourselves, who will live with us.”

The actor also hinted that he would want Sonakshi to take his permission for the person she dates. “There is nothing wrong with dating if you are dating the right person. I don’t want her to go through the same experiences I had. If and when she dates, I make sure it will be with our knowledge, and I hope she does it with our consent,” the Kaala Patthar actor said, calling Sonakshi the “answer to my prayers.”

After the news of Sonakshi and Zaheer’s wedding broke, which was first reported by IndiaToday.in, Shatrughan Sinha said that his daughter has his blessings. Speaking to the Times of India, he said, “If my daughter is getting married, I will give her my blessings and support her decision and choice.”
