An actor who was once the heartthrob of many, known for playing iconic romantic leads in various Tamil films. Despite performing brilliantly in cinema, the actor eventually faced a hurdle in his career due to which he had to move out of India.
Yes, we are talking about 1990s hero Abbas. An actor who was admired by everyone but ultimately due to many failures he had to leave cinema.
Born as Mirza Abbas Ali on May 21, 1975 in West Bengal, the actor emerged as one of the most iconic stars in Tamil cinema. He started his career in 1996 as one of the lead heroes in director Kathir’s Kadhal Desam, which brought great success to his career.

By the late 1990s, the actor became so busy with offers that he had to give up projects like Thalapathy Vijay starrer Kadhalukku Mariyadhai and Jeans, which later became hits.
Moving forward in his career, the actor played the lead role in the film Kandukondain Kandukondain, co-starring Mammootty and Ajith Kumar. The film starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Tabu in the lead roles, while Tabu played the romantic role of Abbas.
Interestingly, the actor also played important roles in films like Rajinikanth’s Padayappa and Kamal Haasan-Shahrukh Khan’s Hey Ram. As his career progressed, he struck a balance between playing both lead and supporting roles.
However, the actor’s decline in cinema began when many of his projects were shelved or got stuck in production problems. Due to financial difficulties he had to sign many projects.
As his career waned, the actor moved to New Zealand, where he took up odd jobs working at gas stations, doing construction work and even as a mechanic. Eventually, he became a motivational speaker and later returned to India in hopes of resuming his career in cinema.
