Former US President Donald Trump, who is the Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential race, has promised to launch the biggest deportation drive in American history if he is re-elected to power.

Addressing a convention in Michigan, Trump called on his supporters to vote in the November election for a president who would kick “radical Islamic terrorists” out of the country.

He said, “The choice for every voter in November is clear: You can have a president who allows thousands of radical Islamic terrorists to enter our country, or you can elect a president who expels radical Islamic terrorists from our country.”

He asserted, “On day one of my new administration, we will launch the largest deportation campaign in American history. We have no choice. This is not sustainable”.

Trump’s remarks come at a time when the Republican camp is trying to highlight a ‘migrant invasion’. Trump and his supporters are building a narrative ahead of the election that Democratic President Joe Biden has made it easier for immigrants to come to the US. He often calls crimes committed by migrants “Biden migrant crimes.”

On several occasions before the election, Trump reiterated his anti-immigrant policies and called for a complete ban on immigration.

In the latest incident on Saturday, Trump said, “Our country has never been in such danger as it is right now,” indirectly referring to the recent arrest of eight people with suspected links to ISIS. He claimed that thousands of terrorists were entering the US and said, “Our country is going to pay a very big price for many, many years.”

In April he described immigrants in the United States as “animals” and repeated his previous accusation that they were “poisoning the blood of our country”, remarks that drew sharp criticism.
