Bollywood icon Salman Khan is truly the uncrowned superstar of the industry. His immense fame speaks for itself and needs no further explanation. Today on 27 December 2024, Laadle Khan is celebrating his 59th birthday. In honor of this special day, let’s reflect on the period when the superstar faced a downturn in his career despite the success of Maine Pyar Kiya, following Bhagyashree’s decision to get married.
During Rajat Sharma’s first appearance on Aap Ki Adalat, Salman Khan admitted that after Maine Pyar Kiya, he did not get any offers for four to five months. At that time, she felt like she would not get any work, as her co-star Bhagyashree decided to get married after the film’s release and the industry ignored her.
“And she went to him and got married and ran away with the entire credit, which is the credit of the film. It seemed to the industry people that I was the one, it was nothing (she got married and ran away with the full credit) For the success of the film, everyone in the industry thought she was the main reason for it being successful and I was just there),” he added.
Then Salman’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, had to intervene. He requested filmmaker-producer GP Sippy, with whom he had collaborated on several projects, to make an announcement that he had signed Salman for a project. When this announcement was made in a trade magazine, filmmakers and producers were convinced of Salman’s bankability and started approaching him with film offers.
During the conversation, Salman also told that he was given Rs 20 lakh for this. 31,000 for Maine Pyar Kiya and his payment increased to Rs. 75,000 for his second film.
Since then, the superstar has never looked back. Over the years, the birthday boy has earned a special place in the hearts of his fans.
He will next be seen in AR Murugadoss’s film Sikandar opposite Rashmika Mandanna. The cast also includes Prateik Babbar, Sathyaraj and Sharman Joshi in lead roles. To make his birthday even more special, the teaser of the film will drop today at 11:00 am. Backed by Sajid Nadiadwala, the upcoming action entertainer is set to release on Eid 2025.
