Mufasa: The Lion King is roaring at the Indian box office. The film, which has dubbing by superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu and also voice by Abram Khan, is doing well.

According to Sacknilk, the film grossed an impressive Rs 10 crore on its opening day in India. It earned Rs 4 crore from the English version and Rs 3 crore from the Hindi dub. The Tamil and Telugu versions earned Rs 1 crore and Rs 2 crore respectively.

While Shah Rukh Khan brings the Hindi version to life, Mahesh Babu lends his voice for the Telugu adaptation. Globally, Mufasa: The Lion King is lagging at the box office, thanks to Sonic: The Hedgehog. The film is expected to benefit from the overseas market as it is released in the US as well as worldwide, while Sonic the Hedgehog will not be released in the international market until Christmas.

Mufasa: The Lion King is running in theaters along with Mufasa 2: The Rule, which is creating new records at the box office with each passing day. The Allu Arjun-starrer has already earned Rs 1000 crore in India since its release on December 4. Meanwhile, Mufasa will also face competition from Varun Dhawan-starrer Baby John, which will release in theaters on December 25.

Directed by Barry Jenkins, Mufasa: The Lion King serves as a prequel to the 1994 film, The Lion Kingand dives into the humble beginnings of Simba’s father, tracing his journey from an orphan cub – an outsider – to his rise as the beloved leader of Pride Rock.
