A day earlier, the 97th Academy Awards announced the shortlists in several categories. Among them, the Hindi-language crime drama film, Santosh has been shortlisted as the United Kingdom’s entry in the Documentary Short Film category. Recently, while reacting to this big news, actress Shahana Goswami said that she feels that the film will go through nomination.
Popular actress Shahana Goswami is proud to have her film Santosh shortlisted as the UK’s official entry for the upcoming 97th Oscar Awards (Academy Awards). Expressing her feelings to Hindustan Times about this achievement, Shahana said that she is really happy, proud and encouraged by this selection. He admitted that it is a moment of celebration for director Sandhya Suri and the entire team of the film.
Shanana, who has also been a part of Heroine, Rock On 2, Dispatch and other projects, said she would be happy if things work out in her favour. However, even if it doesn’t work out for them, they are okay with it. “But I have a deep feeling about the film going through a nomination,” revealed the actor, who plays a policeman in the film.
Having said that, Santosh is one of the 15 films that have been shortlisted to be nominated in this category. For those wondering why the film was selected as the UK entry and not India’s, it is an international co-production of the United Kingdom, India, Germany and France. So, the UK sent it as its entry for the Oscars. Despite this, the 38-year-old actress believes that India should be proud when the film is considered for a prestigious award like the Oscars.
Sharing her views on this, the Zweigato actress said that she does not believe in separation. Additionally, there is a large Indian team involved in the production of the film. Therefore, the country has every reason to be proud of it. He also said that this is not a country-specific matter, but more a thematic matter. “It’s about storytelling and diversity. It doesn’t matter where the film comes from, the story is still rooted in India,” concluded Shahana.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the shortlists in 10 categories for the 97th Academy Awards on December 17, 2024.
