Gracie Abrams offers a glimpse of what it was like backstage on the final day of Taylor Swift’s recently concluded Erasure Tour. The 25-year-old artist, who opened 49 shows for the pop titan — including the final stop in Vancouver on Sunday, December 8 — shared that the last concert was incredibly emotional for everyone involved in Swift’s 21-month-long road show. It was emotional.

“Everyone cried the whole day. It felt like the last day of school backstage,” Abrams revealed in an interview with Nylon on December 17. “Everyone was walking around with their (Eras Tour) books, signing each other’s books. We were all hanging out with Sharpies.

Abrams noted that traveling around the world with the 14-time Grammy winner brought everyone on the crew closer.

Abrams added, “I’m feeling emotional and grateful and in a state of shock that we as a global community no longer get to experience that source of light.”

The budding singer also expressed his gratitude for learning from one of the best in the business. She said that she was like a sponge around the folklore singer in every moment of her show.

“I’ve been studying basically for a year and a half. “Every time I opened the door for her, I watched and learned,” Abrams said. The Good Riddance hitmaker added that she still manages to learn when she and Swift talk about the weather.

Abrams credited Swift for contributing to her rising stardom and said the beginning for the pop star — from the beginning of the tour when she was fresh off her debut album, to the release of her hit single That’s So last October. Had again joined the tour together. It’s true—it means a lot to him and has done more for his career than anything else.

Regarding the song, the singer said that it’s funny how a track has the power to change the entire trajectory of an artist’s career through its association. Abrams said that it was very special for him to see the audience shouting out the lyrics to the song during the show he performed.

In September, Abrams discussed debuting her collaboration with Swift at Wembley Stadium in June. He shared that during her performance, Swift made him feel like they were the only two people there, and her ability to get the crowd to stop was deeply impressive to Abrams.

Abrams plans to take what she learned from Swift on her tour, which is scheduled to begin in July 2025.
