SS Rajamouli’s RRR, one of the biggest films of Indian cinema, is still making waves even two years after its release. The makers have now unveiled the trailer of RRR: Behind and Beyond, a documentary offering a behind-the-scenes look at this magnum opus and its successful Oscar campaign.

Released in 2022, RRR redefined the scale and success of Indian films globally. Known for its captivating visuals, spectacular action sequences and captivating narrative, the film earned immense love and appreciation from the audiences as well as international filmmakers including Hollywood legends Steven Spielberg, James Cameron and the Russo Brothers.

RRR is a power-packed entertainment film that explores the themes of friendship, patriotism and resilience, brought to life by stellar performances from JR NTR and Ram Charan.

Their roles were complemented by extended cameos from Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgan and Shriya Saran. With MM Keeravani’s gorgeous musical score adding to the film’s appeal, Naatu Naatu created history by winning the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards. This was the first win for an Indian and Asian song in this category.

The RRR: Behind and Beyond documentary promises to showcase the immense efforts of the artists and technicians behind the film. From the building of the iconic sets to the rehearsals where Ram Charan and Jr NTR perfected the synchronized steps of Naatu Naatu, the documentary offers a comprehensive glimpse of the magic that happens on the sets of RRR.

Directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR featured an ensemble cast including Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Ajay Devgan, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris. Released on March 25, 2022, the film earned more than Rs 1,200 crore at the worldwide box office.

RRR: Behind and Beyond is set to release in select theaters on December 20, 2024.
