Vivo X200 and X200 Pro review in 5 points

design

One of the first things you notice about the Vivo X200 series is the design. Both the Vivo X200 and X200 Pro have a premium look, with the shades of green and gray looking classy. There’s a flat display on the front, a departure from the curved edges of previous models, which improves both grip and usability without compromising on style. The phones are housed in a sturdy aluminum frame, which gives them a solid feel despite their slim profile.

Even though these devices pack bigger batteries than the Vivo X100 series, they do not feel heavy while maintaining a balance in weight. Notably, the phones also retain Vivo’s signature circular camera module on the back, which adds to their premium aesthetic.

In terms of durability, both models come with IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistant ratings, which means they can easily survive water splashes. Additionally, the X200 Pro offers an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a feature that works efficiently even with wet fingers. The X200 is equipped with an optical fingerprint sensor, which also performs well but lacks wet-finger compatibility. The haptic feedback of the devices is also solid. Overall, you get a great design on both units.

Display

The Vivo X200 comes with a 6.67-inch display, while the X200 Pro offers a slightly larger 6.78-inch screen. Both displays support 120Hz refresh rate, providing a smooth viewing experience. But the X200 Pro has the edge with its adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. This dynamic adjustment provides better power efficiency, especially when using features like Always-On Display (AOD), which reduces the refresh rate to 1Hz, saving considerable battery life.

The standard X200, on the other hand, only offers a fixed refresh rate of 60Hz or 120Hz, leading to higher battery consumption, especially when features like AOD are activated. However, both models shine in terms of display quality. They deliver vibrant colours, deep contrast and impressive brightness, with peak brightness levels reaching 4,500nits, providing good visibility even in strong sunlight.

Display

Both the Vivo X200 and We found a smooth and fast performance during our review period. From opening apps to multitasking, both the phones handle everyday tasks seamlessly. Gaming is also an area where the Vivo X200 series excels. High-demand games like Genshin Impact (played at medium graphics settings) and Call of Duty: Mobile ran smoothly at 60fps and 120fps respectively, with no overheating or slowdown issues even during extended gaming sessions. The Vivo X200 Pro has a larger 6,000mAh battery, which lasts for about 12 hours on a single charge, while the standard Both phones support 90W fast charging, which can fully charge the device in about 45 minutes. The larger battery and adaptive refresh rate give the Pro model the edge in terms of longevity, making it a better choice for heavy users. However, the standard X200 also offers solid battery performance, making it a reliable choice for most users.

camera

Both the Vivo X200 and X200 Pro offer excellent photography performance, but the Pro model has a slight advantage. In daylight conditions, the Pro version produces images with better detail, contrast and dynamic range, while the standard X200 still delivers impressive shots with natural colors and well-balanced exposure.

Both phones support up to 100x digital zoom, with the X200 Pro offering a slightly better 3.7x optical zoom compared to the X200’s 3x optical zoom. Portrait photography is another area where these phones shine, delivering DSLR-like quality with multiple focal lengths, especially on the Pro version.

Ultrawide shots are good, but there’s still room for improvement in terms of stability and sharpness across the frame. The same can be said for macro photography. Finally, low-light photography is solid on both models, although the Pro version handles noise and exposure a little better.

Should you buy Vivo X200 or X200 Pro?

The Vivo X200 and X200 Pro are both excellent smartphones that offer good value for money, especially for those who want the flagship experience without paying the high prices for Apple devices like iPhones. If you’re looking for the best performance and features, the X200 Pro is the clear winner, especially with its superior display, battery life, and camera performance.

However, if you are looking for a more affordable option without compromising too much in terms of quality, the standard Vivo X200 is still a great option. It offers similar performance to the Pro model, with just a few trade-offs, making it a great option for users who want a good flagship smartphone at a more accessible price.
