The new REDMAGIC Pro gaming flagship was introduced on November 13 and expanded its presence with a global launch on December 3. Early adopters can order the phone now and take advantage of the early bird deal. First, more details about the phone.
The REDMAGIC 10 Pro is a phone built from the ground up for gaming. At its heart is the new Snapdragon 8 Elite, but unlike other models that use the Elite chip, it’s actively cooled. The built-in fan reaches up to 23,000 RPM, keeping noise down. This year REDMAGIC borrowed an idea from gaming laptops and used liquid metal to improve heat transfer from the chipset to the heat sink – a first for the smartphone market. REDMAGIC calls it the “Ice-X” cooling system.
REDMAGIC 10 Pro Colors: Moonlight, Dusk and Shadow
For smartphone gaming, the screen is everything – it serves as both a display and input device. The phone includes a pair of shoulder buttons, which can be assigned to in-game functions.
REDMAGIC worked with BOE to create a custom 6.85” 1,216 x 2,688px OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It’s a perfect rectangle and engineers managed to reduce its bezels to just 1.25mm – increasing the screen-to-body ratio to 95.3%. The selfie camera is hidden below the display, so it doesn’t overlay the game graphics and UI.
Like the front, the back is completely flat and protected by glass. There’s no camera bump here – the protruding lens can make it uncomfortable to hold the phone horizontally for long periods of time. REDMAGIC still managed to fit in a pair of 50MP cameras (wide and ultra-wide) in a device measuring just 8.9mm. And that’s an actual thickness of 8.9mm, most other phones leave the protruding lens out of the thickness measurement.
The phone is equipped with a large battery with a capacity of 7,050mAh and supports 100W fast charging. A depleted battery can be charged 50% in just 11 minutes, a full 100% charge takes 30 minutes.
