Pushpa 2 stampede tragedy: Hyderabad theater owner and two managers arrested

On December 4, a 39-year-old woman named Revathi died in a stampede at Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad during the screening of Pushpa 2. The theater owner and two managers were arrested.

Hyderabad Police arrested three people in connection with the stampede that took place at Sandhya Theater during the screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4. 39 year old woman named Revathi diedWhereas the condition of his son Shri Tej had become critical after getting trapped in the stampede. Allu Arjun went to Sandhya Theater for the screening. After the tragic incident, the theater owners and Allu Arjun were named in the case.

The arrested persons include theater owner Sandeep, senior manager Nagaraju and manager Vijay Chandra. He was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody.

According to the police, the stampede occurred due to the negligence of the theater management. “The theater management failed to provide proper information to the audience, which led to the stampede,” said L Ramesh Kumar, ACP of Chikkadpally division.

Police registered a case under sections 105, 118(1)r/w3(5) of the BNS Act.

On 4 December, special shows were scheduled in select theaters in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Bengaluru. Revati, a resident of Dilsukhnagar, went to the theater to watch Pushpa 2 with her husband Bhaskar and two children Mr Tej (9) and Sanvika (7).

Caught in the crowd, Revathi and Mr Tej became unconscious and were taken to Durga Bhai Deshmukh Hospital. Revathi was declared dead, while Mr Tej, who was in a critical condition, was shifted to KIMS hospital in Begumpet.

The condition of his son Shri Tej, who was seriously injured in the stampede, is now stable.

Allu Arjun promised an assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the victim’s family and also announced that he would bear the expenses of their son’s treatment.
