How much of each nutrient is necessary for effective weight loss?
Our body needs a healthy mix of macro and micro nutrients to function properly and lose weight. “Nutritional requirements are determined by a person’s age, gender, body weight and physical condition,” explains consultant nutritionist Rupali Dutta. Children require more nutrients per kilogram than adults, and pregnant or breastfeeding individuals have different needs for their own health and baby’s development. This is why it is important to have a personalized plan for successful weight loss.

Here are 5 surprising reasons why your diet plan is not giving you results:
Even with a strict diet and exercise routine, your plan may not be giving you the results you expect. here’s why:
1. You’re looking for quick solutions
If your goal is to lose a lot of weight quickly, your diet plan may not be realistic. “If you’re trying to lose 15-20 kg in just 2-3 months, you’re probably setting yourself up for failure,” says dietitian Shweta J Panchal. It is difficult to stick to such drastic measures and will not give you lasting results. A short-term mindset can make it difficult to stick to your plan in the long run.
2. You are trying aimlessly
If you’re jumping into a random diet plan you found online without any clear goals in mind, don’t expect good results. As Panchal explains, “If you have any health conditions or abnormal blood tests, a typical plan won’t work for you.” Before you start changing your diet, it’s all about changing your mindset.
3. Your diet does not suit you
No two bodies are alike. Everyone has their own routine, schedule and lifestyle. If your diet plan doesn’t take those things into account, it’s less likely to work in the long run. You may make more adjustments to your lifestyle than your diet.
4. You are going to extremes
Many people think they can lose weight quickly by going on extreme diets, but those plans aren’t always sustainable. Take the keto diet, for example – while it may work in the short term, dietitian Panchal explains that it’s hard to stick to it over the long term. The main thing is balance, not excess.
5. You’re not in the right mindset
The journey to health begins with your mind. No one can force you to take care of your body – it’s something you need to do for yourself. Having the right mindset can make a huge difference in achieving your weight loss goals.
