Should you eat before a workout or not?

Modern science recommends eating a balanced meal three hours before a workout, and yoga suggests that you should workout on an empty stomach to see the desired results. However, Dr. Dimple Jangda says that you should understand your body type and plan your diet accordingly.

1. Endomorph body type

Dr Jangda says that if you have a slow metabolism, a tendency to fall sick or gain weight quickly, you should exercise on an empty stomach. The Ayurvedic health coach suggests that you should use 50 percent or more of your physical strength. To turn on your metabolism, you should exercise until you break a sweat before eating your first meal. This will help with weight loss and digestion.

2. Mesomorph body type

People with a mesomorph body type have muscles and a high metabolic fire. They gain or lose weight easily. If you suffer from acidity, heartburn, acid reflux or skin disorders very quickly, you should take care of your metabolism and eat a handful of nuts before working out. According to Dr Jangda, this will activate your stomach acids and prevent them from rising during your workout session.

3. Ectomorph body type

According to Dr. Jangda, people with an ectomorph body type have a tendency to lose weight and feel restless. If you have such a body type, it is best to eat sweet fruits like apples or bananas to keep your body stable during and after workouts.

Bonus Tips:

1. Dr. Dimple Jangda advises people of all three body types to avoid eating salty, sour, spicy and fried foods before a workout.
2. As far as workouts go, Ayurvedic health coaches recommend working out only until you start sweating, then switch to cooling exercises. Once your metabolism is revved up, make sure to stay active throughout the day.

Why should you exercise regularly?

Whether you are trying to lose weight or not, working out and exercising is important for the overall well-being of the body. If you are not feeling motivated to exercise, here are 5 reasons that might change your mind.

1. Improves mental clarity

Exercise increases blood flow to the brain, which improves concentration, attention, and alertness. This can help increase mental clarity and improve overall cognitive function.

2. Improves mood

When you exercise, our bodies release the feel-good hormones endorphins. This can help reduce stress, anxiety and depression. So, if you exercise regularly, it will have a positive effect on your mood and emotional health.

3. Improves sleep quality

Physical activity can help regulate your body’s circadian rhythm, making it easier to fall asleep at night. Regular exercise also sets a sleep pattern for your body, which helps you wake up refreshed and energized in the morning.

4. Increases energy

Exercising regularly can increase blood flow and oxygen to your muscles and tissues. This can help give you a natural energy boost. If you exercise first thing in the morning, you will feel energetic and alert for hours.

5. Strengthens the immune system

If you exercise regularly, you can strengthen your immune system. Physical activity increases the production of white blood cells, which are important for protecting your body from viruses and bacteria.
