Kal Ho Naa Ho is an evergreen classic and Aman played by Shahrukh Khan taught us how to cherish every moment in life. But can you imagine any other actor playing the funny, understandable and supportive Aman? Well, that could have happened. Recently, the film’s director Nikhil Advani shared that Shah Rukh Khan wanted to leave the film after shooting a scene due to his serious back injury. Therefore, he suggested the producers to cast Salman Khan in his place as he would be out for treatment.
Nikhil Advani recently sat down with Mirchi Plus and discussed some interesting anecdotes from working on Kal Ho Na Ho, which received an overwhelming response upon its recent re-release. He shared more details by Shah Rukh and revealed that King Khan called him and Karan Johar, who wrote and backed the film, about his intention to leave the film.
Sharing the reason, Advani explained that the superstar maintained an industry while shooting for duplicates or any other film. But he did not take proper care of it and it became serious with time.
The filmmaker revealed that the first scene shot by Shahrukh Khan was the popular diary scene of the film. However, it was filmed differently, which was later scrapped and they re-shot it at a railway station. After shooting a scene, the actor realized that he would not be able to continue shooting and needed to seek immediate medical attention.
Recalling that moment, Nikhil said, “He called us after doing a scene and said yaar mere se nahi hoga aap log kya kar karo karo. You know I call Salman, with Salman Make it.” (I can’t do this now; you do one thing: I will call Salman and you can make the film (Kal Ho Naa Ho) with Salman.)
Khan took a tough decision because, due to the serious nature of his back problem, he had to immediately go to Germany and undergo surgery. As a result, he required a 6-month recovery period after this. Therefore, they felt that the producers would not want that
However, Nikhil Advani and Karan Johar stood by him and decided to wait till he recovered. So, instead of opting for the role again, he started shooting six months later when Shahrukh came back to the sets, and we were glad that we got to see him play the unforgettable Aman, who made us laugh, smile in Kal Ho Na , blushed, felt sad and cried. yes.
