Mallika Sherawat made a comeback to Bollywood with the video of Vicky Vidya Ka Woh starring Rajkummar Rao and Trupti Dimri. The actress was also to appear in The Royals, where she was to play Ishaan Khattar’s on-screen mother. However, he left the role after revealing that the character he was offered was different from what was on paper.
Recently, while talking to ETimes, Mallika Sherawat broke her silence on refusing to play a role in The Royals. Known for her extremely honest confessions, the actress revealed that the translation looked very ‘stupid’ to her, and she felt ‘betrayed’ when it came down to paper.
“I was promised something, and what was translated looked pretty useless to me on paper. I felt betrayed and disappointed. So, I didn’t want to be a part of that,” she said, adding that the role eventually went to Sakshi Tanwar.
During the same conversation, reflecting on her comeback to Bollywood, Mallika admitted that it feels good to know that she was remembered. She also revealed that she is reading scripts, further adding that her potential is still untapped. The Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala video actress said that she wants the industry to utilize her potential in comedy roles as she enjoys doing so.
She further added, “I feel underrepresented in comedy and I want the industry to offer me more comic roles. At the same time, I also want to do meaningful roles now.”
Notably, the actress recently met Mahesh Bhatt, and she also shared a video of their meeting on her Instagram handle. This post sparked speculations about their reunion for an upcoming project. Giving a big hint at this, the Welcome actress called it a “dream” to work with him again.
He further said that Bhatt has come up with an idea and they are working on it. He expressed hope that a film would be made on it soon.
The regal romance webseries, The Royals, was announced earlier this year in August. It features a stellar cast including Ishaan Khattar, Bhumi Pednekar, Zeenat Aman, Nora Fatehi, Chunky Pandey, Dino Morea, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, Lisa Mishra and Luke Kenny.
