Abhishek Bachchan is one of the most talked about stars of Bollywood. Apart from being the son of superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, he has also made his mark as an actor with his commendable performances in films like LOC: Kargil, Dhoom, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Guru, Dasvini, Sankar and others. Recently, the actor shared an interesting anecdote about how his mother was asked to imagine her death to portray the raw emotions on screen.
Abhishek Bachchan recently sat down to talk to ETimes for the promotion of his film I Want to Talk. During his conversation, he shared that to pull off a scene better, his actors have to bring out the humans in their characters.
Junior Bachchan recalled an incident from the shooting of the 1998 film Hajar Chaurasi Ki Maa, directed by Govind Nihalani, where he worked as an assistant director. The actor recalled that once his mother was ‘upset’ during a film shoot as she had to film a scene where her character had to identify her dead son’s body.
To bring out emotion in the scene, Nihalani suggested Jaya to portray the son as Abhishek and portray his raw emotions.
Recalling that incident, the Dhoom actor mentioned, “It sounds harsh, but this is what actors go through. Even if he hadn’t said it, he would have imagined it to make that feeling real. You bring a lot of your personal stuff to your work.”
Furthermore, describing his profession in better terms, the actor described actors as ‘paid actors’ and ‘pampered puppets’. He also looked towards Shoojit Sircar, who directed his film, I Want to Talk, and said that the director is the grand master puppeteer in this setup.
