Selena Gomez, who recently worked with French filmmaker Jacques Audiard on the musical-thriller Emilia Perez, has a list of directors she would like to collaborate with in the future. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Hands to Myself singer talked about the filmmakers on her professional “dream board” and named some of the most highly admired ones.

“There are so many. I would love to work with Aaron Sorkin,” she said of the filmmaker who is known for works like The Social Network, The West Wing and Molly’s Game, among many others. Gomez said , “I really like all his movies and all the movies around him.”

The Grammy nominee also admitted that he is a big fan of Martin Scorsese and that he hopes to work with him before he retires. She said, “I’m a big fan of Scorsese and I want to make sure he doesn’t suddenly quit or retire.” Gomez stressed that she did not necessarily want to be the star of her project and even that she would be satisfied with only two scenes.

Even more so, because he fears that too many responsibilities will fall upon him. “If anything, it scares me because it feels like the responsibility is primarily on me. I am still learning. I just know that I go for things that aren’t necessarily traditional,” she explained.

Previously, Gomez worked with Harmony Korine on the R-rated indie film Spring Breakers. Although her mother regrets saying yes to the role on her behalf, the actress has no regrets because that’s when she was really bitten by the acting bug.

“My mom always says, ‘I feel like I’m going to win Worst Mom of the Year,’ because she was the one who liked the movie Harmony,” Gomez said. At the time, he had already completed 100 episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place, two Wizards films, and “some lovely, lovely projects” in between. But it was Harmony’s film that piqued his interest.

“I like interesting filmmakers, and he was very eclectic, and he had lots of different ways of auditioning me,” he recalled.

Most recently, Gomez and David Henry — who played her older brother on Wizards of Waverly Place — have joined forces to reboot the iconic show as executive producers. In several interviews, Henry, who also stars in the show, claimed that his aim has always been to reach new and younger audiences.
