There are still a few more major smartphone launches this year, but the focus is already starting to shift towards 2025. We’ve heard that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series could be one of the first to launch on January 5, though a separate source placed the Unpacked event on January 22.
We’ve seen a lot of leaks about the new flagship series and the S25 spec sheet is starting to become clear. Techmaniacs has published a report on what the S25 trio will be like – and, unfortunately, it can be summed up as “more of the same”.
Estimated renders: Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra
This is good news to some extent. This contradicts claims that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be more expensive than its predecessors – Samsung will reportedly keep prices the same as the S24 series and offer its usual “free storage upgrade” promo during the pre-order period. There’s no indication whether the vanilla S25 will eventually reach the 256GB base storage capacity.
It will get a RAM upgrade, although it will only have 12GB RAM instead of 8GB. Samsung Galaxy S25 phones will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite in all markets after the Exynos 2500 failed to ramp up production.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Dummy
The new ISP inside the Elite chip will be the only camera upgrade seen on the Galaxy S25 and S25+. The S25 Ultra will have an upgraded 50MP ultra-wide camera (up from 12MP), but that’s it. Unless you count the new styles on camera lenses.
The displays will be mostly the same – same size, same resolution – although the Ultra will have thinner bezels. The battery capacity also won’t change and neither will the charging speed – 45W for the Plus and Ultra models, just 25W for the vanilla phone. The efficiency of the elite chipset can extend battery life, which is worth it.
Case renders: Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra
Samsung is said to be placing a heavy emphasis on new AI features for the Galaxy S25 series – presumably, some of the same AI features that caused the huge delays in One UI 7 development.
We’ll be on the lookout for any surprise upgrades for the Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra – anything that may have escaped leaksters’ notice – but it looks like another year of incremental upgrades for the S-series.
