On November 16, Nayanthara criticized Dhanush for sending a legal notice in an open letter and demanding Rs 10 crore for using some clips of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in his upcoming Netflix documentary.
In his three-page note he wrote, “I have not forgotten all the terrible things you said about that film, which was one of your biggest hits as a producer and a film that is still loved by everyone. Your words pre-release have already left some healing wounds for us. I came to know through the film industry that your displeasure over the success of this film (Filmfare ) can also be seen through the award ceremonies associated with 2016) (sic).”
At the 63rd Filmfare held in 2016, Dhanush won the Best Film Award as Producer for Kaaka Muttai. In his speech he said, “Good evening everyone. My heartfelt thanks to Filmfare. This award belongs to Manikandan, director of Kaaka Muttai. I am very grateful to him. My production is proud to have made a film like Kaaka Muttai.” Very few films can make you proud, this is one of them and this award belongs to Aishwarya Rajesh who gave an incredible performance in this film – she deserves many awards in this film and so do those two little boys. Two little gems that won millions and millions of hearts across the world, this film is really very special to me and my production and this award is really encouraging me to make more quality films that also do wonders at the box office. “Can create a stir.”
