Martin Scorsese is highly critical of the making of social media videos; However, he chooses to spend a lovely time with his daughter. The highly acclaimed director is best known for appearing in his daughter Francesca Scorsese’s TikTok videos.
However, this does not mean that he likes every video that is presented to him. Recently, while speaking to People magazine, the Oscar-winning filmmaker talked about the popularity of the aforementioned social media platform.
The director admitted that he did not know much about TikTok before making the video with his daughter. The Killers of the Flower Moon filmmaker also talked about his daughter, saying, “She said, ‘Dad, just do this for a minute.’ “I did it, and the next thing I knew, it was all over the world.”
For those who haven’t seen these extremely interesting clips, some of the video shows Francesca educating her dad with Gen-Z terms including “sleep on” and “wick.”
When asked if he ever turned down any video pitches, The Wolf of Wall Street director said that although he could not remember exactly which one, there were a few.
The Gangs of New York director further stated that he would tell his daughter, “I think this is going too far, darling,” for future videos in which he does not want to participate.
Martin Scorsese also elaborated on his daughter’s qualities and said that she is a good actress and a person with a sense of humor.
Apart from becoming famous on TikTok, the father-daughter duo also appeared in a Super Bowl campaign for Squarespace, where The Irishman director was seen attempting to develop a website with his daughter.
However, the video also saw him admitting that he is not a person who specializes in science fiction.
Speaking with Vanity Fair about the Squarespace video, Francesca Scorsese said she has no regrets about teaching her father new Gen-Z words.
She also detailed that her father uses some Gen-Z terms, which made her laugh out loud. Describing what words he used, Francesca said, “Oh yes, that slap, and I’m so woken up,” some were.
He then also mentioned that since Martin Scorsese is from a different generation, it becomes a little “embarrassing” to hear him say these words.
Scorsese’s latest film is Killers of the Flower Moon, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone and Brendan Fraser as well as some extremely talented actors.
