Shah Rukh Khan starrer Baazigar has become a cult film and its popularity is still visible today. The actor impressed everyone with his anti-hero role in the 1993 romantic thriller. In an exciting development, it has been revealed that Shah Rukh is in talks for Baazigar 2. Producer Ratan Jain recently confirmed that a sequel will definitely be made.
In a recent interview with ETimes, producer Ratan Jain said that discussions are going on with Shah Rukh Khan regarding a Baazigar sequel. According to the portal, Jain told that the script is not ready yet but he wants to proceed with the film only if Shahrukh plays the lead role.
Jain also revealed that there was an exciting idea about a sequel but a ‘compelling’ script and ‘fresh’ direction was needed. He wants to ensure that the film lives up to the standards set by the first film.
Ratan Jain said, “We keep talking to Shahrukh about Baazigar 2 but nothing much has happened yet but it will definitely be made.”
Baazigar was released on 12 November 1993. Recently it completed 31 years of its release. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, one of Bollywood’s most iconic on-screen couples. Shilpa Shetty, Raakhee, Dalip Tahil and Johnny Lever played important roles. It was directed by Abbas-Mustan. The film received critical acclaim for its story, acting, music and suspense.
Meanwhile, Shahrukh Khan is currently preparing to start shooting for his next project King from January 2025. This is Shahrukh’s first collaboration with his daughter Suhana Khan. Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma are also a part of the film.
Earlier, Pinkvilla had revealed in an exclusive update that Shahrukh’s character will have gray shades. A source said, “Shah Rukh Khan is making films for the audience and is well aware of their desire to see shades of grey. King is his passion project and he is working meticulously on all aspects of the project with Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh. They have collectively created a great character for Shahrukh in King, full of attitude and swag with shades of grey.”
