After struggling to achieve major box office success with his previous films, Arjun Kapoor is back with a bang in Singham Again. His villainous character is currently being appreciated by fans and critics alike. But recently he revealed that at the time he signed Rohit Shetty’s film, he was going through the ‘worst phase’ of his life personally, professionally, emotionally, mentally and physically.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Arjun Kapoor further revealed that when Rohit Shetty asked him to work on his look for the film, he took it as ‘a step’ towards his personal growth.
The Ishaqzaade debutant also said that when he was shooting for the action film, he used to wonder what it meant or whether it was actually going to happen. He even doubted his love for cinema and questioned whether people would care about him again or whether they would reject him.
He said, “I never hung out with all the other actors to that extent, I was very isolated during my shoots.” Although he did not doubt his ability to play the role, he doubted whether people would connect with him.
His difficult phase proved to be a time of introspection for him, during which he realized that less is more. At that time, he did not expect to get such films. “I was also going through a lot of internal stress, so it’s not like I didn’t do it because I didn’t want to work,” the actor shared. He also said that he was not getting the best offers. So, he wasn’t really excited about it.
A day earlier, the Half Girlfriend actor had written an emotional post, saying that Singham Again feels like his debut. Calling it Arjun 2.0, he said, “Here’s to converting unbelievers into believers! Every question and doubt boosted my determination to work harder and come back stronger.”
The actor further wrote, “To all the people who cheered for me then and encourage me now – thank you. Your support is everything. To those who doubted me, thank you for inspiring me to prove myself again!”
