Nora Fatehi compares Bollywood to high school cliques; Says, ‘If you don’t prove yourself or you don’t learn Hindi…’

Nora Fatehi, who impresses fans with her dance moves and acting skills, is known for her outspoken personality. He recently recalled his experience in Bollywood and said that the industry is a lot like a high school clique. But since she has dealt with it in the past, it has become easier for her to deal with. Also, he pointed out that foreign actors who fail in the industry are often those who do not learn Hindi or other languages in India.

In a candid interview with film critic and journalist Rajeev Masand, held during the 15th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, the actress opened up about her journey in the Hindi film industry and its challenges.

Nora Fatehi was born and raised in Canada and lived in Saudi Arabia for some years. He said that during his high school years in those countries, he met students who had formed their own cliques, and they did not want any new people to join their group.

Looking at his understanding of that situation, he feels Bollywood is the same and when he entered the industry he felt like living in it again. However, he used that experience to make his mark in the industry.

He said, “It’s (Bollywood) a little worse than high school because most of these groups have grown up together from day one. But when you’ve done it once, it feels like you can do it again.” Since you are an outsider, if you don’t prove yourself or learn Hindi, there is no way to assimilate and prove to them that ‘Hey, I can be like you guys.’

The Margao Express actress told that she does not blame Bollywood because it is like a company and she needs knowledge and experience to move ahead here. As a result, while her fellow models went to clubs and had fun, she studied and graphed the industry.

The research made the Bharat actress realize that when a newcomer in the industry cannot continue his success, he disappears after a year or more. He said, “That’s when I understood one thing: if a foreigner came to Bollywood and they couldn’t make it there, most of the time it was because they didn’t learn the language (Hindi) or assimilated it.”

Nora explained that those foreign artists try to maintain the fact that they are American or Canadian and want people to know it. However, their language and accent eventually make people realize that foreign artists are outsiders, which is why they did not succeed.
