Trump says he wouldn’t mind someone ‘firing’ at him with fake news

After surviving two assassination attempts this summer, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump suggested Sunday that he wouldn’t mind if someone took aim at him through fake news.

Addressing his supporters at an election rally in the battleground Lititz, Pennsylvania, Trump created another controversy by saying he should not have left the White House after his defeat in the 2020 elections.

Trump said in his speech, “Honestly, I shouldn’t have gone. We did great,” but quickly changed the subject. “So now, there are hundreds of lawyers standing at every polling station.”

Trump had refused to accept the results of the November 2020 elections. His supporters attacked the US Capitol on January 6, which is considered the worst day in American democracy.

The former president, now 78, expressed disappointment over the increased security around him following his recent assassination attempts.

“I have a piece of glass over here. I don’t have a piece of glass over there. And I have this piece of glass over here. But what we have here is actually fake news, right? And I get I don’t care if any fake news is shot.

“I’ve got a piece of glass here. The problem with that glass is – I don’t look good on television when you’ve got a four-inch piece of glass that a howitzer can’t go through. No, when you see yourself watching television But you say, boy, you’re not very recognizable, which is good. But here I have Glass, now I don’t care what I do. And they’re usually friends. There are some people in that group that I don’t like, but that’s how it is.”

His comments were criticized by Democrats. Harris-Walz Rapid Response Director Ammar Moussa said that while Harris spent today talking to voters at a Detroit church about her vision of lifting up all Americans, Donald Trump was busy violating the Ninth Commandment.

“Trump is spending the final days of his campaign angry and uninterested, lying about the election being stolen because he’s worried he’ll lose. The American people deserve a leader who tells the truth and pays attention to them.” Will go to the Oval Office focusing on – this is Vice President Harris,” Moussa said.

Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung said Trump was talking about two assassination attempts on his life, including one that came within a quarter-inch of killing him, something about which the media Talks and jokes constantly.

He said, “The president’s statement about putting up protective glass had nothing to do with harming the media or anything else. It was about threats against him that were inspired by dangerous rhetoric from Democrats.”

“In fact, what President Trump was saying was that the media were in danger because they were protecting him and, therefore, he himself was in great danger, and he should have had a glass protective shield as well. There is no other explanation for it. Maybe he was actually more concerned about their welfare than his own!” Cheung said.
