Actor Suriya shared an emotional note on social media following the demise of popular film editor Nishad Yusuf on Wednesday, October 30. The 43-year-old man was found dead in his apartment in Kochi’s Panampilly Nagar around 2 am on Tuesday. She worked with Suriya in his upcoming film Kanguva.

The Tamil actor posted a photo of the late film editor on his official X account and expressed condolences to his family. He also remembered Nishad as a ‘quiet and important’ person in the Kanguva team.

Suriya’s note read, “Heartbroken to hear that Nishaad is no more! You will always be remembered as a calm and important man of Team Kanguva. In our thoughts and prayers! My condolences to Nishaad’s family and friends.” Heartfelt condolences. RIP (sic).”

The sudden demise of Nishad Yusuf was confirmed by The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) Directors Union on its official Facebook page.

The union shared a picture of Nishadh and wrote, “The unexpected demise of Nishadh Yusuf, a film editor who played a major role in determining the contemporary future of the changing Malayalam cinema, is not something the film fraternity will be able to accept quickly. Condolences FEFKA Directors Union (sic) from.”

The news of his death caused a wave of mourning in the Malayalam and Tamil film industries. Police officials are investigating the matter, while the cause of death is not yet known.

Nishad was known for his editing work on Thallumala, Unda, One, Saudi Velakka and Adios Amigos among others. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
