Apple has finally rolled out the long-awaited Apple Intelligence with the iOS 18.1 update. This AI-powered suite brings intelligent upgrades to Apple devices, including iPhones, helping users streamline daily tasks, increase productivity, and enhance the user experience while prioritizing privacy. Although Apple Intelligence was highly anticipated, it is currently only available in a limited number of languages, including US English. This means that Indian users will officially see English (India) support as early as 2025. Therefore, Indian users will have to wait a little longer to experience the new features. Or wait—probably not, because there’s a simple trick that allows you to use Apple Intelligence in India with a few easy changes to settings.

When it’s ready, you can start using Apple’s new suite of AI features.

What’s new in Apple Intelligence?

Apple Intelligence on iOS 18.1 introduces several new features designed to make everyday tasks easier and more efficient:

writing instrument

This feature enables your iPhone or iPad to act as a writing assistant in apps like Mail, Messages, and Notes, as well as in select third-party apps. It allows users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text to improve clarity and choose a tone such as professional or friendly.

Siri with new interface

The feature brings an updated interface and improved conversation capabilities to Siri, allowing it to remember past commands for easier follow-up questions. Users can also easily switch between voice and text input. Siri works on all Apple devices, including CarPlay, for a more efficient hands-free experience.

Photos app enhancements

This update makes photo management and editing smarter. Users can search for specific moments using detailed descriptions, such as “Lily on the beach in a red dress.” The Photos app also includes a clean up tool to remove unwanted objects or people from photos, and an advanced Memories feature creates video stories from simple details.

Notifications and message organization

The feature highlights important messages like event invitations and boarding passes, and provides notification summaries on the lock screen to help users manage distractions. It also summarizes long email threads for quick review and prioritizes key messages for faster access.

Privacy in Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is designed with privacy standards in mind that processes most data directly on the device. For complex tasks, Apple uses private cloud compute, anonymizing data and ensuring no storage is lost, with third-party security reviews for added security. ChatGPT integration into Siri and writing tools extends Siri’s functionality while maintaining privacy standards.
