Anna Kendrick has contributed a lot to the world of acting, but many may have forgotten that one of her earlier career works includes playing supporting character Jessica Stanley in the 2008 film Twilight. In a recent conversation, the actress recalled her 2018 tweet in which she wrote about forgetting that she was even a cast member of the iconic fantasy film.
Kendrick appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast and talked about the tweet and said that many people were questioning whether he actually remembered being part of the movie. He said the answer was both “yes and no”. Kendrick shared that it was clear that she had not forgotten the experience of filming.
He further added that at that time, those films took on a lot of “life of their own.” He further said that “They were a kind of touchstone for good or bad. The kind of reference that everyone will be talking about trying to find the next Twilight or whatever.
Kendrick remembered seeing himself in business discussions where he’d talk, “‘Oh, yeah.'” I heard there’s a book series that’s been optioned right now that maybe we want to try to make it the next Twilight. ‘ And then I’ll say, ‘Oh my God, I’m in it.’
The Pitch Perfect star shared about feeling like an outsider given the public’s enthusiasm for the film franchise. He accepted his fate because at that time he did not have to face that kind of commotion.
The actress revealed that a lot of the actors who were part of the franchise, if they even had any lines or if their character was supernatural, couldn’t even leave their hotel rooms.
He said the audience was “mad” and criticized and compared the book’s characters and the film’s features, which he didn’t have to deal with.
He said that although the two lead characters, played by Stewart and Attinson, enjoyed great success, he felt they did not need to “run the gauntlet”.
Kendrick shared that all she had to do was come on screen and say something “dumb” or humorous, or say something other people were chatting about or, “You’re acting weird.” Okay, everyone is really serious. Goodbye.” She expressed that it was her work and called it “amazing”.
