OpenAI is reportedly planning to launch another major AI model, codenamed Orion. After launching OpenAI o1, the company is eyeing to launch a new model in December. The Verge reports that Orion will not be widely available through ChatGPT at first. OpenAI plans to provide early access to select partner companies, allowing them to develop their own products and features using the platform. This limited rollout will prioritize businesses with which OpenAI has established close working relationships before a wider release.
OpenAI’s Orion model is not new, the company has been teasing its still-in-progress model for quite some time. According to previous reports, the upcoming model is expected to be a significant advancement in artificial intelligence, potentially being the successor to GPT-4. Orion builds on advances made by previous models, with a focus on enhancing reasoning, problem-solving, and language processing. It aims to reduce common AI issues like hallucinations by taking advantage of better synthetic data generation, as mentioned earlier. It was also reported that O1 was using code named Strawberry to provide synthetic data to train OpenAI Orion.
according to The VergeMicrosoft engineers, OpenAI’s primary partner for AI model deployment, are gearing up to host Orion on Azure as soon as November. Orion, which is seen internally as a successor to GPT-4, cannot be labeled GPT-5 externally. However, OpenAI has not yet finalized the name. According to the report, the release time may change as it is still tentative and there is no guarantee as to when it will launch officially.
While there is very limited information available about the Orion AI model, ChatGPT has something to say. We asked ChatGPT about the upcoming model, and he said, “This model aims to push the boundaries in key areas, including healthcare and finance, where accuracy and reliability are critical. “reflects OpenAI’s strategy to remain competitive in the U.S.” Because it faces challenges from rivals like Google DeepMind and Meta’s LLaMA model.”
Last month, OpenAI unveiled a completely new AI model that thinks before reacting – OpenAI o1, from which future models will learn and grow. OpenAI o1 itself is a progressive step towards achieving human-like AI. It also demonstrates solid improvements in key areas, such as generating code and handling complex, multistep challenges with greater efficiency than its predecessors. The company claimed that the model excels in mathematics and coding. In fact, in an upcoming update, OpenAI o1 performs similarly to PhD students on challenging benchmark tasks in physics, chemistry, and biology.
