Hrithik Roshan introduced himself as a ‘struggle’, recalls Mission Kashmir co-star Sonali Kulkarni; here’s why

Hrithik Roshan is one of the biggest stars of Bollywood known for his charm, impressive acting skills and compelling screen presence. His journey started with the huge success of his first film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. In a recent interview, Sonali Kulkarni, who worked with the actor before his debut, recalled that he introduced himself on the sets as ‘Rakesh Roshan’s son and a struggling man’. However, while he was filming, the release of his first film made him an overnight star.

Hrithik Roshan is the son of actor-filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, whose son made his debut with the 2000 film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. In a candid chat with Siddharth Kannan for his YouTube channel, Sonali Kulkarni recalls working with the Dhoom 2 actor before his debut.

Sonali and Hrithik co-starred in the 2000 film Mission Kashmir. Sonali played the role of Hrithik’s foster mother in the film, despite the fact that she was only 25 years old at that time. When asked if she was uncomfortable with the role, Sonali replied that she had no objection as she was playing a character. However, she expressed concerns about the height difference between herself and Sanjay Dutt, whose wife she played, and was initially unaware of playing Hrithik Roshan’s mother.

When Hrithik came for this film, his first film was not a hit at the box office. So, Kulkarni recalled his first meeting with him and said that the actor presented himself as a conflicted person.

She shared, “I met Hrithik on the day of my audition. He said, ‘Hi, I’m Hrithik Roshan, Rakesh Roshan’s son. I’m a struggler.’ She had just started working on her first film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, I said, ‘Hi, I’m Sonali Kulkarni, BG Kulkarni’s daughter.’

As the shooting of the film progressed, her first film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai made her an overnight star. Nevertheless, when they met, it was a positive interaction and they often inspired each other.

Since his debut, Hrithik has worked in successful films like War, Bang Bang, Dhoom 2, Jodha Akbar, Krrish 3 and many more. He will next be seen in the action entertainer War 2 opposite Jr NTR.
