Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s film Shaandaar is celebrating its 9th anniversary today. The hit party song Gulabo from the film was a fan favorite. Reflecting on the journey, Alia Bhatt recalled feeling incredibly ‘nervous’ about dancing with Shahid, because she knew she had to keep up with his energy. Due to the pressure, tears came to his eyes once.

At the launch event of the song Gulabo, Alia Bhatt shared her experience of dancing with one of the best dancers of Bollywood, Shahid Kapoor. She admitted that she was extremely worried about matching his impeccable moves, especially because it was their first dance number together.

Despite her efforts, she found the pressure overwhelming and at one point even started crying. She said, “I was very nervous because I had to dance with Shahid. Even with just 10 percent dancing skills, he looks great on stage. So, I had to match him. I worked very hard. At one point I even started crying bitterly.

She said that choreographer Bosco jokingly said that her legs were like those of a penguin, but Alia credited Shahid for being a supportive dance partner who helped her tackle the challenging routine.

Shahid Kapoor shares the screen with his step sister Sana Kapoor in the song Gulabo. Recalling her surprise of being cast in the film, Shahid mentioned that she had no idea she was a part of the project.

Director Vikas Bahl cast Sana after meeting him through casting director Mukesh Chhabra, and when Vikas told Shahid that Sana would play Alia Bhatt’s sister in the film, he was surprised. Interestingly, Shahid even said that Alia and Sana look more like siblings than him and Sana.

Shaandaar, directed by Vikas Bahl, is a light-hearted romantic comedy set amidst the grandeur of a grand destination wedding. Shahid Kapoor plays Jagjinder, a quirky wedding planner named Joginder who falls in love with the bride’s sister, played by Alia Bhatt. The film is notable for its vibrant, playful visuals and unique story.

With strong support from Pankaj Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, Shaandaar shines with its extravagant wedding scenes and Amit Trivedi’s energetic soundtrack, which adds to its whimsical charm.
