Introduction and Specifications

It’s time for the bi-annual upgrade of Vivo’s V series and we expect a slight improvement over the V30 Pro. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. The V40 Pro marks a complete generational upgrade with a new look, better hardware, and more features.

Although the display remains the same, which is totally fine, since the V30 Pro’s screen was bright and completely tricked out, the V40 Pro brings a notable upgrade in the chipset department; A larger battery, higher IP68/IP69 rating against water and dust and fixes the V30 Pro’s biggest drawback – the lack of stereo speakers.

The V40 Pro is now rocking a set of stereo speakers and retains a quite capable camera setup. The handset relies on three 50MP cameras on the back and a 50MP unit on the front, which also has autofocus.

All that hardware draws power from a 5,500mAh battery, which has been upgraded from a 5,000mAh unit, and supports the same 80W fast charging solution.

All this comes together with a reasonable price increase in the new model, so many might be wondering if the V30 Pro is a smarter choice or if there are any other suitable options in the Indian market. We try to answer these questions in the review.

Unboxing the Vivo V40 Pro

The V40 Pro comes in a standard retail box with the usual user manual, a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging and data transfer, and a hefty 80W proprietary charger. That last one shouldn’t be taken lightly these days, especially seeing as how our Vivo V40 review unit didn’t come with one.
