Durgesh Kumar became a household name with the character of Bhushan alias Banrakas in the beloved series Panchayat. Social media’s meme favorite actor is celebrating his birthday today i.e. on 21st October. On the special occasion, reminiscing about the time when the actor had revealed that Alia Bhatt had become a fan of his dancing skills on the sets of Imtiaz Ali’s Highway.
In an earlier interview with Spotlight Magazine, Durgesh Kumar had talked about his experience of working with Alia Bhatt in Highway. He noted that when he first met the actress she was an “angry little girl”, contrary to his expectation of meeting a diva. The birthday boy described working with the Jigra actress as a great time.
The Panchayat actor revealed that his character in the film would understand the equation between Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt’s character, and he had to treat the actress’ character like a younger sister.
“The dance sequence I performed with her created a lot of buzz and I had a lot of fun shooting it. After shooting the scene, Alia told me that she is a fan of my dancing skills. I take it as a big compliment. But I take it because I just did what I liked and didn’t care much about my actions,” he said.
In the same interview, Durgesh also expressed happiness on getting a role in the film directed by Imtiaz Ali. He told that to get into the character, he neither bathed for 26 days nor slept for two days. While he hoped the director would be impressed by his expressions, the filmmaker told him he wanted his actors to be natural.
The actor went down memory lane and found that Ali remained patient with him. He highlighted that his character should be sweet with a comedic touch. In such a situation, whenever he used to act, everyone present on the set would start rolling in laughter.
He shared, “In fact, during one of the initial scenes where Alia talks to me for the first time, our cinematographer Anil Mehta couldn’t stop laughing because I had delivered the scene with so much conviction.”
Durgesh was last seen in Panchayat Season 3 earlier this year.
