Actor Vijay Varma recently revealed how his negative characters have affected the way people perceive him in real life.

Speaking at the launch of the screen in Mumbai, he revealed that “pretty girls and their mothers” have talked about being scared of him, a reaction that has left him upset. Vijay, known for his villainous roles in films like Darlings and Pink as well as the OTT series Dahad, originated this public perception from his role in Pink.

Vijay recounted his experience at an all-female screening of Pink, where he met many actresses he admired, including singer Sunidhi Chauhan. After the screening, which left many in attendance emotional, he tried to console Sunidhi, but then she said, “Don’t come near me. I’m too scared of you.” Vijay described this incident as an important moment in his acting journey, following which the film’s director praised his impressive performance.

Vijay’s breakthrough role came in Gully Boy, where he played the role of Moeen, which gained widespread attention. He has since gained fame for playing intense and complex characters in projects such as She, Mirzapur, Darlings and Dahad (2023), in which he plays a serial killer. Her ability to play dark roles has cemented her position as a rising star in the industry.

Recently, Vijay played a key role in the Netflix miniseries IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, which is based on the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814. The series is inspired by the book Flight Into Fear: A Captain’s Story, in which Vijay plays the character of Captain Devi. Sharan, the pilot at the center of the crisis.

On the personal front, Vijay Varma is currently in a relationship with actor Tamannaah Bhatia.
